Live birds/ chicks Shipping Policy

1. Overview

Padoos Homestead offers shipping of live chicks and birds in compliance with all applicable postal and animal welfare regulations. We prioritize the health and safety of all animals during transit.

By purchasing live birds, you agree to the terms outlined below.

2. Shipping Method

    •    All live birds and chicks are shipped via USPS Priority Mail or USPS Express Mail (depending on availability and weather conditions).

    •    Birds are shipped in USDA-approved ventilated chick shipping boxes designed for safe transport.

    •    Shipping days are typically Monday only to prevent weekend delays.

3. Minimum Order Requirements

    •    A minimum of 6 chicks may be required for safe shipping, depending on weather conditions.

    •    This helps chicks maintain proper body temperature during transit.

4. Weather Policy (VERY IMPORTANT)

For the safety of the birds:

    •    We do not ship in extreme temperatures (generally below 40°F or above 85°F, depending on conditions).

    •    Heat packs or cold packs may be included when necessary.

    •    We reserve the right to delay shipment if weather conditions are unsafe.

5. No health guarantees

  • No health guarantees; stress from shipping and moving to a new home can cause illness, this is out of our control.

  •   New birds should be quarantined and given vitamins upon arrival to help with stress.

  •   Customers are responsible for health testing prior to pickup or shipping. We do not have an Avian vet local to us.

  •   We are tested yearly for Pullorum Typhoid to maintain our NPIP status to legally ship out eggs and live birds. We practice strict bio security.

  •   Seller is not liable for illness, disease transmission, or loss once the chicken(s) leave our possession.

6. Shipping Risks & Buyer Responsibility

By purchasing live birds, you acknowledge:

    •    Shipping live animals carries inherent risks.

    •    We are not responsible for delays caused by USPS or other carriers.

    •    We are not responsible for:

    •    Losses due to shipping delays

    •    Stress-related illness after arrival

    •    Improper care after delivery

Once birds are handed off to the carrier, responsibility transfers to the buyer.

7. No Returns or Exchanges

Due to biosecurity and animal welfare concerns:

    •    All sales are final.

    •    We do not accept returns or exchanges on live birds.

8. Address Accuracy

    •    Buyers must provide a correct and deliverable shipping address.

    •    We are not responsible for issues caused by incorrect addresses.

9. Biosecurity Notice

To protect our flock and yours:

    •    We maintain strict biosecurity practices.

    •    Once birds leave our care, we are not responsible for exposure to other animals or environments.
